Privacy policy
Last updated: 27 October 2026
Effective date: 27 October 2026
1. Introduction
This privacy policy explains how Projectors India (“we”, “us”, “our”), collects, uses, shares and protects your personal data when you visit projectorsindia.com (the “Site”), buy from us, or ask us for a quotation.
We follow the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”), the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it. For the purposes of the DPDP Act, we are the “Data Fiduciary” for your personal data. By using the Site you acknowledge that you have read this policy. Where we rely on your consent (for example, for analytics cookies), we ask for it separately, and you can withdraw it at any time.
2. Definitions
- Personal data — any data about an individual who can be identified by or in relation to that data, such as your name, phone number, email or delivery address.
- Data Fiduciary — the person who decides why and how personal data is processed. For this Site, that is us.
- Data Processor — a service provider that processes personal data on our behalf, such as our payment gateway or website host.
- You — any visitor, customer or person who contacts us (the “Data Principal” under the DPDP Act).
3. Information we collect
You can browse, request quotations and buy without an account. Creating an account is optional.
3.1 Information you give us
- When you place an order: your full name, email address, mobile number, delivery address (street, city, state and PIN code) and, if you choose to give it, your GSTIN for a business invoice.
- When you create an account: your name, email address, mobile number and a password. We store the password only as a secure one-way hash — nobody, including us, can read it. If you sign up as a dealer, also your company name, GSTIN and city. If you save them, your delivery address and GSTIN (filled in from your last order, to speed up checkout). We also record when you accepted this policy, when you last signed in, and whether you confirmed your email address.
- Payment information: payments are made on Razorpay's secure checkout. We receive only the payment status and Razorpay's order and payment reference numbers. We never see or store your card number, CVV, UPI PIN, net-banking password or other full payment credentials.
- When you request a quotation: we save the details you enter in our quotation form — the projectors and quantities, your name, phone number and city, and optionally your email address, company name, GSTIN and notes — so we can prepare your quotation and contact you. The form then opens WhatsApp on your device with the same request typed out; whether you send that WhatsApp message is up to you. If you send it, we also receive it through WhatsApp.
- When you book a site survey: we save the details you enter — your name, phone number, city, the type of place and, if you add them, your email address, organisation, address or area, preferred date and notes — so we can contact you and arrange the survey.
- When you write a review: a few days after your order is delivered we email you a link to review what you bought. If you write one, we save your rating, review and the name and city you choose. After we check it, these are shown publicly on the product page. Your email, phone number and address are never shown.
- When you contact us by email, phone or WhatsApp: your contact details and whatever you choose to tell us.
3.2 Information collected automatically
- Technical logs: like every website, our hosting provider records your IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested and the time of each request. This is used to run the Site, keep it secure and fix errors. We also keep simple daily visit totals (which pages were viewed, which website or app the visit came from, the country and the type of device). These are counts only: they contain no IP address, cookie or anything else that identifies you.
- Analytics — only if you agree: if you choose “Accept all” in the privacy notice shown when you first visit, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity record how the Site is used — pages viewed, clicks, scrolling, time on page, device type and approximate location. Clarity may also record anonymised session replays. If you choose “Essential only”, or make no choice, these tools are not loaded at all.
- Your cart and wishlist: these are saved only on your own device (see section 6). We do not receive them unless you place an order.

5. Who we share it with
We share personal data only with the service providers we need to run the business, and only as much as they need:
| Provider | What they do | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Razorpay Software Pvt. Ltd. (India) | Payment gateway — processes your payment on its own PCI-DSS compliant systems | Name, email, phone, order amount, payment details you enter on Razorpay |
| Vercel Inc. | Hosts the Site and runs our server code | Technical logs; order data passes through it |
| Turso (database hosting) | Stores order, quotation and account records | Order, quotation, account and contact details |
| Resend, Inc. | Sends our automatic emails (order confirmations, account emails) | Your name, email address and the contents of the email |
| ImprovMX and Google (Gmail) | Deliver emails you send to our support address to our inbox | Whatever you send in the email |
| Courier and logistics partners | Deliver your order | Name, phone, delivery address |
| WhatsApp (Meta Platforms) | Carries messages you choose to send us | Whatever you send in the message |
| Google LLC (Google Analytics) | Website analytics — only with your consent | Analytics data |
| Microsoft Corporation (Clarity) | Website analytics and session insights — only with your consent | Analytics data |
We may also disclose personal data where required by law — for example, to tax authorities, or in response to a lawful request from a court or government agency — or to protect our legal rights.
6. Cookies and on-device storage
| Name | Type | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| pi_cart_v1 | Your browser's local storage (essential) | Remembers your cart. Stays on your device. |
| pi_wishlist_v1 | Your browser's local storage (essential) | Remembers your wishlist. Stays on your device. |
| pi_session | Cookie (essential) | Keeps you signed in to your account. Only set when you log in; ends when you log out or after 30 days. |
| pi_consent_v2 | Your browser's local storage (essential) | Remembers your privacy choice and which version of this policy you saw. |
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics cookies (optional) | Distinguish visitors and sessions. Only set if you accept. |
| _clck, _clsk and related | Microsoft Clarity cookies (optional) | Group page views into sessions. Only set if you accept. |
| Razorpay cookies | Set by Razorpay inside its payment window | Fraud prevention and payment security, under Razorpay's own privacy policy. |
You can change your mind at any time using the “Privacy settings” link at the bottom of every page — withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. Blocking local storage will stop the cart and wishlist from working.
7. How long we keep it
- Orders, invoices and payment records: for as long as Indian tax and accounting laws require. Under GST law, records must be kept for at least 72 months from the due date of the annual return for the year they relate to.
- Your account: until you delete it (you can do this yourself on the My account page). If an account is unused for a long time, we may close it after emailing you first. Orders placed through it are kept as described above, but are no longer linked to you.
- Quotation requests, site survey requests and messages: only as long as needed to respond, follow up and handle any resulting order, after which we delete them.
- Reviews: shown for as long as the product is listed. Ask us at any time and we will remove yours.
- Technical logs and analytics: kept for the limited period set by our hosting and analytics providers, then deleted automatically.
When personal data is no longer needed and no law requires us to keep it, we delete it.
8. Where your data is stored
Some of our providers (such as Vercel, Google and Microsoft) store or process data on servers outside India, including in the United States. We transfer personal data outside India only as permitted under the DPDP Act and never to a country the Government of India has restricted.
9. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you have the right to:
- Access — get a summary of the personal data we hold about you, how we use it, and who we have shared it with.
- Correction and updating — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data, except where the law requires us to keep it (for example, tax invoices).
- Withdraw consent — at any time, as easily as you gave it. This does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
- Grievance redressal — complain to our Grievance Officer (section 13).
- Nominate — name another person to exercise these rights for you in the event of your death or incapacity.
If you have an account, you can do much of this yourself on the My account page: see and correct your details, download a copy of your data, and delete your account.
To use any of these rights, email us at support@projectorsindia.com from the email address or phone number you used with us. We may need to confirm your identity before acting. We will reply within the time required by law, and in any case within one month. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
10. How we protect it
- The whole Site uses encrypted HTTPS (TLS) connections.
- Payments are handled entirely by Razorpay; payment credentials never reach our servers.
- Payment confirmations are checked with cryptographic signatures before an order is marked paid.
- Order and account data is accessible only to authorised staff through a password-protected admin area.
- Account passwords are stored only as salted one-way hashes; sign-in uses secure cookies, and repeated wrong passwords are blocked.
- We collect only the data we need for the purposes listed above.
No method of sending or storing data over the internet is completely secure. If a personal data breach occurs, we will notify affected people and the Data Protection Board of India as required by law.
11. Children
The Site is meant for adults. Under the DPDP Act, anyone under 18 is a child. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children or allow them to place orders without the verifiable consent of a parent or lawful guardian, and we do not track or target advertising at children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our practices or the law change. The “Last updated” date at the top will change, and for significant changes we will place a notice on the Site. The version on this page is always the current one.
13. Contact and Grievance Officer
For any question or complaint about your personal data or this policy, contact our Grievance Officer, appointed under the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 and the DPDP Act:
